Despite significant advances in medicine, more than 287 million people worldwide are living with chronic viral hepatitis. In fact, this number may be even higher, as many people are unaware of their diagnosis.

That is why the theme of World Hepatitis Day 2026 is “Hepatitis: Let’s Break It Down.” It calls for breaking down the barriers that prevent people from getting tested in a timely manner, receiving treatment, and accessing the necessary support.

The BCD team supports this initiative. Since 2019, we have helped over 7,000 people navigate the path to diagnosis, treatment, and support. And we continue to work to make this path easier for everyone.
