"Informed Youth, Healthy Community"

Today is the day for change for the better. 

Every conscious and active member of the community can make a meaningful contribution to improving the quality of life in the town of Nemishaieve.

Each of us is concerned about the spread of alcoholism, drug addiction, and aggression among teenagers. The result is problems within families, the spread of life-threatening diseases, and the loss of hope for a free, healthy, and happy future. 

Another pressing issue in the town is the lack of access to diagnosis and treatment for viral hepatitis. According to statistics from the Public Health Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, approximately 600 residents of Nemishaieve suffer from chronic viral hepatitis C and B. Only one in 20 is aware of their diagnosis.

The consequences include gradual disability, liver cirrhosis, cancer, and death. 

To comprehensively address these issues, the non-governmental organization “BCD” (hereinafter BCD), with the support of the Nemishaieve Village Council, launched the Project

 

"Informed Youth, Healthy Community," under which the following activities will be held in Nemishaieve in 2020:

 

• 500 residents of Nemishaieve were tested for viral hepatitis;
• if the diagnosis of “chronic viral hepatitis C” is confirmed, we will help you receive free treatment under the state program;
•  We will create a community center where families facing issues with alcoholism and drug addiction can seek help;
• We will teach teenagers in Nemishaieve how to resist the temptation to use alcohol and drugs and how to deal with aggression;
• We will teach teenagers in Nemishaieve how to protect themselves from viral hepatitis, HIV, and tuberculosis.
